A great trip up Rattlesnake Canyon and up Heartbreak Ridge (Pontiac Loop) in the San Bernardino Mountains exiting via Burns to Baldwin Lake. We had wonderful views, a few obstacles to make it fun and a great little group that made for a perfect day!
A wonderful trip to Saline Valley and Cerro Gordo with a hike to a waterfall, side trips to all sorts of things, and the Summit Station of the Salt Tram to top it all off. Weather wise we saw everything but for snow on this trip and that made it all that much more special. Truly one of the best trips yet!
Nightmare and its environs, Goler and a lot more made for a perfect trip to the EL Paso Mountains. Juan’s gravity defying truck leap up the falls was the wheeling highlight of the whole trip! Everyone had a blast with John in the lead! Pictures here are from Dennis and John. Good times!
A fun day run to Lockwood and the Miller Jeep Trail. An early start left us alone on the trail and without problem we cruised through, having an excellent time along the way!
A run up to Sherman Pass and Monache Meadows in beautiful Sequoia and Inyo National Forests. Good weather, only a few light showers, and a great team made this a fantastic trip up into the Sierras!
Dishpan and John Bull, followed by a trip to Holcomb valley before heading back to camp at Serrano. A good trip that was the other half of our club’s little run up there. On Dishpan every one enjoyed the falls and running John Bull west to east was good fun. A great day that ended at nearly 6 PM. Good times!
Gold Mountain and Jacoby Canyon (out and back), followed by a trip to Holcomb valley before heading back to camp at Serrano. A good trip that was one half of our little run up there. Lots to see and Gold is in a little “funner” shape than usual for much of its length. Jacoby was beautiful and offered a few little fun places. We did it out and back then headed to Holcomb Valley and back to camp.
Death Valley National Park running the Slate Range Trail followed by running Goler Wash to Butte Valley. Perfect weather and great scenery for the entire trip with stops along Panamint Dry Lake Bed, the Keystone Mine and Barker Ranch (for lunch) on the way up through Mengle Pass to Butte Valley. Attendees camped in and around the Stone Cabin and enjoyed the fantastic view of Butte Valley. In the morning half of the group headed back out Goler while the other half continued on to Warm Springs to the West Side Road and out via Shoshone (with the required stop at China ranch for date shakes).
Another fun and successful trip for the Southern California Tacoma Club! This time we took a small group, our specialty, to Calico again and again, we had perfect weather and the trial nearly to ourselves! A great time with a great bunch of folks. A lot of pictures of the trip that claimed on drive shaft, on CV, one tire and a dented quarter panel. Fun!
SCTC members Dennis, John and John’s daughter Kailey and their dog Rudy took this easy trail from Silverado to Ortega Highway near Lake Ellsinore. Great views and fanatic weather made it a fun trip over the Santa Ana Mountains. Good times, close to home!
A club run up to Big Bear to see the snow. One of two runs put on by the club on the same day! A number of trails were closed due to the fire damage from fall wildfires but there was still plenty of adventure and fun in the snow! Good times!
One of two runs on the same day, the San Jacinto Snow run started and ended with more mud than snow but, the team was not denied snow and had a great time in this very scenic area!
The club met in Anza Borrego to enjoy the desert. The club ran Pinyon Mountain, including the notorious Squeeze and Hart Attack Hill, South Coyote Canyon, the Calcite Mine Trail and more.
Three days or wheeling and two nights of camping in Death Valley National Park. Most of the trials were easy but the views amazing. On Friday the SCTC went up Hunter Mountain, through Hidden Valley to Teakettle junction then down to the Racetrack Playa and camp at Homestake. Saturday had the group go down the Lippincott and up Saline Valley with stops at the Salt Tram and Hunter Valley before getting into camp at Saline Warm Springs. Sunday was Steele Pass, DeDeckera Canyon and Eureka San dunes before heading home.
We were voted into CA4WDC and off we went to the dirt. Our original plan to play in the San Jacinto Mountains was ruined by the forest closures due to the fires. So we ran North Coyote, the only thing we could find open. An easy and quick trail turned into hours of socializing. Good times!
The Southern California Tacoma Club completed another successful run as a number of members and guests completed Rattlesnake Canyon and Heartbreak Ridge (Pontiac Loop) in the San Bernardino Mountains before exiting via Burns Canyon. Through it was a rainy morning, attendees experienced perfect weather both on the desert floor and up in the pine covered mountains. Coupled with great wheeling, it made for a perfect day!
The inaugural SCTC run was a good kick off for the club with nine rigs, a big run for our little group and a lot of fun but it ended with a boom! Lead by Dell, the group spent the whole day enjoying the dusty trails. Only one mechanical casualty, a blown engine on Mike’s rig, which lead to having to abort the plan to run more trials but we did complete the Cleghorn including its many more difficult alternates, 2N17X and the east end of Pilot Rock. We’ll have to head back up and explore Willow Springs!
